Our Strategies

"Those who have the mass media in their hands ... bear responsibility for the world and for the future of humanity." ~ Vaclav Havel

To fulfill our mission, WMC is guided by following outlined strategies:

1- Awareness and Knowledge Distribution

Our centre is highly accountable for creating awareness and knowledge distribution. Our different media units provide news and broadcast different programs and issues that are essentially viable for the path of gaining power of women in the developing world. WMC aims to raise awareness about different social and economic issues with gender perspective.

2- Capacity Building

WMC aims to enable women and marginalized communities to communicate effectively through different kinds of training and workshops.

3- Advocacy

WMC cooperates with relevant NGOs, Civil Society Organizations’ networks and institutions to advocate for campaigns addressing the issues of women and communities to garner the attention of stakeholders and push to end impunity against negligence, injustice and discrimination, and to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.

4- Networking

WMC highly recognizes the importance of creating global, regional and local community partnerships for the better development of the world. In order to promote women’s empowerment and gain gender equity, better interaction along with engagement of the relevant stakeholders is highly promoted through partnerships and collaborations with different national and international institutions.

5- Monitoring & Evaluation and Research

WMC will use national and specific surveys to gather strategic information and collaborate with relevant research institutions to work on values, principles and underlying causes that are the foundation of gender relations and attitudes.
From the data, communications strategies are formulated for policy makers and the target audiences. As a result, better policies and better supporting environment are expected from policy makers while the changes in knowledge, attitudes, behavior and practices are from the target population.

6- Strengthening Institutional Capacity

With remarkable expansion of programs and coverage areas and greater funding opportunity, the institutional capacity development of WMC is becoming a vital issue for the management and the staff. Besides, WMC is committed to undertaking paradigm shift from running the programs supported by donors to a broader vision and revised mission to contribute reducing gender disparity and taking part in the achievement of the CMDG.  More importantly, WMC is striving to gradually to move to privatization to generate income to support its core activities while strengthening its leadership with improvement of the accountability and transparency. Administrative, Financial and Human Resource Management are the areas for institutional capacity development. These initiatives will allow WMC to build credibility not only from its own staff but also with strategic partners, donors and clients.

Altogether WMC is dedicated to the achievement of the better place with equal opportunities and wellbeing for each and every woman and for individuals.

Strategic Goals

During the period 2010-2015, WMC will implement 6 following strategic goals:
  • To continue raising the awareness of gender relations, attitudes, social and economic issues on different levels that will enable mainstreaming of gender issues in policies, plans and programs;
  • To build capacity for WMC staff and women of marginalized communities to communicate effectively through different kinds of training and workshops;
  • To advocate for the positive portrayal of women in the public media and to support policy and environmental changes on criticizing ‘women’s and gender issues;
  • To expand and strengthen networking with other alliances and organizations both locally and internationally;
  • To contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and Research that contributes to WMC’s priorities; and
