WMC Guiding Values
In working together as a team, the following values will be our guiding lights
1. Gender Perspective
We recognize the need to move away from a focus on women’s roles in development, towards an analysis of gender relations of power including access to, and control over, resources and decision-making by women and men. We believe that through the media we can improve the situation of women and men in Cambodia and educate society to recognize and value the unique roles and contributions of women and men in the family, the community and the nation.
2. Culture of Solidarity
We will understand the situation of the vulnerable and key affected population and act in order to put an end to unfair situations and to defend people’s dignity. We are one team! All staff performs an important function in WMC. Therefore we will respect and appreciate each other; we will work together in solidarity, while acknowledging and accepting our differences in order to reach our common goals.
3. Professionalism:
We will be impartial in our work and respect professional ethics so that we may gain the trust of our stakeholders and serve as a model to other media.
We will strive for quality in our work, each taking responsibility to continue improving our work. We recognize the need for staff professional capacity development and will establish a fund to support it.
4. Mutual respect
We will respect and appreciate each other and work together as a team, while acknowledging and accepting our differences in order to reach our common goals. We will respect, consider and give recognition to the opinion, qualities and characteristics of the individuals and the society and our program will avoid causing offence to the population and will take into account the cultural characteristics, gender issues, etc.
5. Mutual Accountability:
We will promote good governance and manage efficiently the resources of the organizations and the activities of the different projects and share the important information of the operation and the activities to any person interested in knowing it. We will promote trust and confidence and take responsibility for our work. We will learn from our mistakes. We will make time for reflection and learning from our experiences in order to grow personally and as an organization.
6. Cooperation and participation
We will work in partnership with other organizations and institutions who share common goals. Through cooperation and participation we will make the most of our resources, increase efficiency and take advantage of the synergies. We will promote the active participation of our listeners and audiences and of the communities. We will work together to achieve our common goals, support each other, and engage in peaceful resolution of conflict, initiate change and address issues through consultation and negotiation.
