As the Khmer Rouge regime is still dealt with only insufficiently in schoolbooks and media, since 2006, the Women's Media Centre of Cambodia (WMC), FM 102 has produced a radio programme called "The Truth" addressed primarily the victims and perpetrators of the KR crimes, youth, the whole population of Cambodia (as far as it can be reached by FM 102 radio), local and international media, decision makers such as teachers, politicians, representatives of the civil society.
'The TRUTH' programmeme is supported by the Open Society Institute (OSI) and German Development Service (DED). This project usesthe resources and expertise of the WMC and particularly Radio FM102 staff to provide ordinary Cambodians with an independent, informative, educative and accessible source of information on the activities, outcomes and issues surrounding of the ‘Khmer Rouge Trials’ being conducted by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). It also seeks to provide listeners audiences with an opportunity to air their questions and concerns on this aspect of Cambodian history and on the workings of the Tribunal with a view to reconciling Cambodian people with their past and allowing them to move on to a peaceful future.
The programme objectives are:
Information: to keep the public informed about the activities of the ECCC and monitor them closely in consultation with other NGOs,
Service : to provide a forum for public discussion on issues surrounding the Khmer Rouge Trials, inform about taking part in the trials by becoming a civil party and help interested people finding support, and
Peace building: to promote the concept of justice and reconciliation by encouraging Cambodians to deal with their history and to move forward in a peaceful manner.
''THE TRUTH'' has a reputation for being reliable and sincere in providing information concerning issues surrounding the ‘Khmer Rouge Trials’ being conducted by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).
